Should I ask her parents if I could date her?

I have been with my girlfriend for 4 years by august. We have been seeing or dating behind her mother's back until a about a month ago we were caught together unexpectedly. She is now graduated high school early at 17 and i'm 19 currently in college. She has not been able to date guys because according to her parents it's a priority. Sholud I wait for her to tell her or should I talk to the parents?
